The Full Story
Priests' clothes is a fantasy accord referencing sacristy olfactory world: heavy robes saturated with incense smoke, stored near stone walls. Combines incense (frankincense, myrrh smoke), beeswax, dusty fabric, old wood, and cold mineral church air.
Intensely atmospheric. Not about cleanliness but accumulated time: layers of smoke absorbed into wool and linen, candle wax on stone, rarely opened cupboards.
Built from olibanum, beeswax absolute, Cashmeran, vanillin (old-book notes), cold stone minerals, and ambroxan.
Church incense smoke contains alpha-boswellic acid, which activates TRPV3 channels in the brain, producing a mild calming effect. The ritual use of incense may have a genuine pharmacological basis.
